WHAT IS THE ANIMAL-FREE CERTIFICATION

The "Animal-Free" certification is a badge issued by the Italian Anti-Vivisection League (LAV), a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of living beings and the promotion of respect for all forms of life. The main goal of the LAV is to combat vivisection, the use of animals in cosmetic testing, and the promotion of veganism.

This symbol provides consumers with the assurance that products bearing the mark have been manufactured without harming living beings, avoiding both animal testing and the use of animal-derived ingredients.

REQUIREMENTS FOR CERTIFICATION

For manufacturers to obtain the "Animal-Free" certification issued by LAV, they must declare their commitment not to use a series of materials specified by the certifying body. Additionally, they are required to undergo a rigorous verification process and monitoring conducted by the organization itself. Certified companies must adhere to high production standards to be included in a ranking that rewards the most ethical practices. This process involves a detailed examination of the components used in products and the production methods adopted.

Absolutely excluded are all ingredients of animal origin, as well as those that have been subjected to animal testing or derived from such tests. In addition, manufacturers must ensure that the entire supply chain of the ingredients used is cruelty-free, ensuring that no supplier adopts harmful practices towards animals. A distinctive aspect of LAV compared to other forms of certification is its pyramid evaluation system, through which companies can access higher levels by demonstrating increasingly animal-friendly behaviors.
